WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Mike Flood fiercely criticized a new rule from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that would impose stringent public disclosure requirements on private companies. In a statement released today, Flood lambasted the regulation, accusing the SEC of aligning with environmentalists to the detriment of American businesses and consumers.
Flood asserted, "President Biden’s SEC continues to weaponize federal rulemaking against private job creators." He further condemned the rule, stating, "This new regulation seeks to force job creators to disclose vast amounts of information long sought by activists." Flood emphasized that the rule is not about transparency but rather serves as an "environmentalist dream" to pressure companies into adopting policies that could negatively impact consumers and middle America.
Expressing his determination to challenge the SEC's directive, Flood declared, "This fight isn’t over. I will be supporting efforts to overturn the SEC’s draconian rule, so we can protect working Americans and our way of life."
The new SEC rule has sparked controversy and drawn strong opposition from Congressman Flood, who is resolute in his stance against what he perceives as detrimental regulatory overreach.
