U.S. Congressman Mike Flood expressed his satisfaction after the approval of H.R. 4366, The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024, by the U.S. Senate. In a statement, Rep. Flood emphasized the significance of the legislation, which is part of a bipartisan spending agreement aimed at saving $200 billion over the next decade.

“These projects are big wins for communities across the First Congressional District,” stated Rep. Flood. “All but one of our original requests received funding, which is an incredible result. We were able to accomplish all this in the appropriations process while controlling spending. Congratulations to each of the stakeholders who helped bring these projects to the table, and I look forward to seeing each of them come to fruition.”

The appropriations for various community projects in the First Congressional District, amounting to over $48 million, were largely derived from Community Project Funding (CPF) requests initiated by Rep. Flood. Notably, the UNL ARS Facility in Lincoln received $25,000,000 in funding, while the Offutt Ditch Pump Station in Bellevue secured $200,000. The Downtown Corridors Project in Lincoln was allocated $4,000,000, and the 23rd Street Reconstruction in Platte County received $3,025,000. Other projects include the Fletcher Avenue Grading and Resurfacing in Lincoln, the Bellevue Public Library Renovation and Expansion in Bellevue, and various infrastructure improvements in different locations.

The UNL ARS Facility and Offutt Ditch Pump Station requests were championed by both Congressman Flood in the House and Senator Deb Fischer in the Senate. The successful funding outcomes reflect the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders and the commitment to enhancing community infrastructure and facilities in the First District.
